The uncommon of the common

This stone is so common, yet so special. A 'manshaped' clump of clay, probably broken and then washed by the sea. What remains is a smooth irregular shape without any symmetry whatsoever. It looks different from each and every angle. This was the challenge recently - see yesterday's post, in contrast to its predecessor.

A 'brick' in the air

'One to Three' from below [30cm]
A first snapshot of 'One to Three', a sculpture modelled on the brick in January's posts.

Taking images of this piece is a further task. While I try to capture what is barely visible - it really depends on the lighting - I realize that I'm reverting the process once more: Having mapped the 'real thing' I then remodelled it to its 'ethereal' 3-D version. Taking pictures means bouncing back to 2-D again.

PS:This sculpture has been sold.

Thinking thread

Searching about for threads with a texture that is fit for my purpose I remembered the Tangutica seed heads, see post 2 February. The pic shows a close up of the threadlike seeds.

So, recently time went into fine-tuning techniques and finding the 'right' materials, thread and glue. Now, it's stitching, crocheting, knotting -  things are taking shape.
